Burger Junkyard - Kota Damansara

My friend and me going around kota damansara to find good food on Tuesday lunch time, something that you should take note, on Tuesday many cafe and restaurant in Kota Damansara closed, so it is better check before you go.

We come across this burger chain, which I got to know from foursquare that the place is having high rating and they do earn good comment from people who dine there. What makes me decide to go there is due there is one person commenting that the place has good customer service (finding good customer service in Malaysia is not easy).

So, two hungry people decide to go burger junkyard, and good thing there is lunch set that we can order, it comes with one side dish and drink.

After making order, we are given this cute mouse as our order number.

Our order comes sooner than I expected, and it is hot!

This is one of their speciality burger and mush potatoes. You can choose either fries, or mash potatoes.

This is one good burger that I had ever ate, it is really good quality and delicious, especially the sauce. It seems it is original sauce from the store. Seriously if the sauce is sold in any supermarket, I will go there and buy.

The tickness of bun is just right, and they do pan fried it with butter, the meat is thick ( much ticker than McD), and the sauce is just right. I can tell indeed really a good chef that make this burger.

Their mash potatoes contain a massive butter, which make the taste really good, and very generous serving of original sauce as well. I can’t stop eating it while it hot, until I totally feel dissapointed when the dish is finish because the enjoyment makes me keep eating it before goes to my burger. I will come to enjoy the mash potatoes again when I coming back here in the future.

Dreamz Bakery Cafe

My wife telling me about one unique cafe in Kota Damansara, the location pretty convenience where it is actually just beside the Strand Amcorp Mall. Both of us really hungry during this time as it is 8:20 PM and we have not having any snack / anything during afternoon. I told my wife I am fine with the place as long as it can prepare food fast.

It is a little bit hard to find if you do not pay really attention to detail, as the shop located at first floor, and the sign is slightly dark, but we do manage to find the place. I have very good impression with the cafe place as it offer really outstanding concept and very personal. Bravo for the designer who design such things, as I know it is not easy to survive opening cafe in Kota Damansara where competitor is plenty and some has outstanding concept and good food.

When about to enter the shops, I am amazed with some decoration located at outside of the restaurant, it has a lot of mini size card with many wishes and good memory.



After we enter the cafe, it has good ambience, the decoration really maximise the place to cater more tables, and the good part is you would not feel the place is cramp (some cafe really maximize the table number to cater more people and it will make you uncomfortable).




Their speciality is cake, as you can see many type of cakes in the displayed place, this will make you order more and more cakes. After satisfied seeing so many cakes, we go to counter to order food and take a look at the main dish. It does not have many choices that you can order, so my wife order chicken drumstick and I am ordering fried chicken with lemon and butter sauce.
We immediately take a seat and enjoying the decoration, all of the wall decoration is actually hand draw beautifully, bravo for that. Not long after we seat, we get the food served. I am really impress with the speed.

The taste is quite average, I can see why it is served pretty fast as my wife dish it does not need to freshly cooked, just reheat the food and it can be served. In fact this type of food it is better to keep reheating again and again to make it taste better. One look at my fried chicked you can tell how fast it can be prepared.

After we done with dinner, now is the time for dessert, we order Tiramisu layered cake. Now this is one of good cake that I had taste before. The sweetness is just nice and really special.



For the cake, it worth to appoint one star for it, but for food it is only worth for mention and they need better way to improve it.

Jake's Charbroil Steak

I am looking for steak house for a little celebration this weekend and I found one restaurant seems pretty interesting. It is located at Medan Damansara, Petaling Jaya and I read many review about this restaurant and it has positive review about it.

So last Saturday I am paying visit to the place. It is really lucky for both my wife and me arriving at the place early as it is overbooked by many people so to get good seat I recommended you to call them and make your reservation.


The restaurant decoration is really western, US style, with lots of cowboy stuff and even the waiters dress as cowboy, with interesting boots and hats. They have premium cut of beef to serve and you can even customised your order (say increase the standard portion of beef, which is 200 g per serving).


This is our entree, it is cheese taco, inside is nothing but vegetables and cheese. Among all the entree, this is the most appealing to me, and judging from the way they do the tacos, it is not really done well. You can taste some burn in some parts, and they give chilli which it does not really nice. 


Finally our steak is arrived. My wife order garlic sauce and I order with brown sauce. It suppose to be medium, but the steak is more towards to medium rare. The taste is good but the side dish serving is not really generous. I like the brown sauce and it goes well with my steak.

In overall, for service and experience, it is not really good, as I can see the waiters actually having argument with one another in front of me, plus when I ask either we can have better seat they immediately say no without looking any availability of the place. There is another couple who come without reservation and they get better place than me. Food wise, only the steak is good, it is worth to mention but definitely does not deserve one star.

Refarm - Remote Farm in Kampar

Kampar, a small town in malaysia that near to Ipoh town and it is just 1.5 hours drive from KL, is famous for their claypot chicken rice. You have not been to Kampar if you have not tried their claypot chicken rice. I do miss their local delicacy but my visit to Kampar this time is not for their local delicacy but actually to visit one farm place in Kampar called Refarm.


I got to know from one of my good friend regarding this place, and they are open for public somewhere beginning of 2015. The time I write this post, not many people know about this place yet, but it gain fame with locals stay in Kampar.



They have their own restaurant where they serve the food from the farm itself, and all the stocks and vegetables are their own grow plus they are proud with their organic method. This restaurant can sit estimate 80 people seating, and by dinner time it is packed with many people, and again it is mostly local people are coming visiting this place.


This is their mushrooms with tou foo, cooked in chinese style. It has significant taste of freshness of ingredients. The only thing that this can be improve is cooking such fresh ingredient in less time, as long as it is soft enough, it should be good.


Their boast about this dish, as it is their speciality. Organic chicken cooked with basil and some herbs. I don't really fancy this dish although some of my friend like it, as the basil they put is too much.


Another their own speciality, herbal chicken. Taste overall good except too much corn flour which they used to thickening the sauce. 

Overall this place is quite good and worth to visit, highly recommended and worth to go if you are passing by Ipoh or Bidor.

My rating is worth to visit of you have not been here but for another visit is not really necessary unless they improve the cooking taste. One big highlight is their ingredient are top quality.

Pork Burger at Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel

It is my first time staying at Renaissance Zurich tower, and we do have very warm welcome greet by the staff there. They are helpful and really willing to go extra miles to help both my wife and me for our luggage. We are staying at the hotel at Christmas eve. I love Christmas feeling in Zurich and staying at Renaissance is really highlight that you can take when visiting Zurich.

It is also my first time having Christmas eve in Zurich, so I totally have no idea that most of restaurants have fully booked, my wife and me even try around 12 restaurants and all are fully booked. Too bad I can't enjoy cheese fondue, but when we are sitting at hotel, we notice the hotel restaurant still have some space and we try our luck to get a table of two.

After we ask nicely to the waiter, she let us sit in one of quiet corner of table where we enjoying Christmas eve dinner together for the first time in our life.


This is crispy pork burger that I order, and by judging the looks, my mouth already wet by my saliva. The meat is tender but what I do really love is the skin of the patty is crispy, with combination of juicy fat pork and their own make bbq sauce.

Their french fries also another highlight, the saltiness is just nice, but it is not really oily. I do suspect that they using air fryer to fried it.

What lacking from this burger is the thickness of the burger and also the arrangement. You can't take it with hand and bite it. The bread is not that good, and the portion of the bread and also meat not that balance (oh well I am more towards American style in terms of burger). Obviously it is good for Euro style as they are using fork and knife to enjoy this delicacy. If you try to take whole bite with the bread, you can find your mouth will be messy with all the juice coming out of burger but if you using fork and spoon, all that delicious juicy will be on plates.

Overall this meal is good to try but I would not put a star on it.

Home-made Pancakes

For the first time making pancakes in my house. I never know that the materials making it is really simple, it is combination of egg, butter, baking powder, flour, and water. That's it and how simple it is. One more ingredient that makes it complete is maple syrup. Below are the pic that my wife make and I help to cook it and decorate it.


I did some decoration to make it more appealing, inspired from the movie 'the hundred foot journey'.
